At Te Kura Taumata o Panguru education is learning about who you
are, where you come from, and where you are going to.
Pa Henare Tate wrote the waiata “Karanga Hokianga” addressing the need to tell
all our uri or morehu who they were in an attempt to gather us all together.
At our Kura we look after the person first, for example if you are a first year
enrolment we ensure that your first day is inviting and your first year exciting
and enjoyable or if you are very new to the area we ensure that we make whanau
links for you.
The Hokianga has a very rich history ranging from the mighty battles of our
tupuna to a strong catholic following and to the conquest of the harbour. Many
of our students are immersed in the history of our area sometime in their years
at our Kura.
The primary purpose of a school is to provide an education at our Kura we
promote encouragement recognition, and excellence so that our students can say
everyday “I will excel in my education till I reach the loftiest mountains of
Panguru”.
